Located in Memphis, Tennessee and known as a pediatric treatment and research facility is St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. St. Jude is ranked as the #1 pediatric speciality in the nation. On March 1, 2018, TSHICC participated in its first St. Jude’s radio-a-thon with Radio One. In addition, TSHICC donated $2,000 to the hospital. The hospital says thousands of Radio One listeners called in or went online to become St. Jude Partners in Hope and joined the #ThisShirtSavesLives movement by pledging to make a monthly donation of $20 or more.
As we sat with Cheryl Jackson, I was blessed to know TSHICC’s participation in this event proved that we care for children all around the U.S., says Pastor Kevin. We love children. We have a dynamic children’s ministry but for the grace of GOD, our children are thriving daily. Helping families take care of their sick child means a lot to our church family. We want to always be a part of this event. TSHICC cares tremendously for our communities not just locally but internationally.
Fifty-one Radio One stations raised $1.7 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital March 1-2 during Urban Radio Cares for St. Jude Kids which exceeded its goal for 2018. Radio One is located in the DMV. You can hear the daily program on the radio (104.1) and via internet. Cheryl Jackson serves as the host from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Saturday.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been actively involved in radio event fundraising for 25 years. In fact, more than 300 radio stations across the country have helped raise more than $600 million for the lifesaving work of St. Jude. The St. Jude family of partner stations continues to expand. From Country to Spanish, Urban AC to Gospel music, we partner with radio markets to support St. Jude’s mission of finding cures and saving children.
