Since the inception of The Shepherd’s House International Christian Church (TSHICC), the focus has been on caring for the community. TSHICC opened its doors in August 2017. Their opening and current location is Frederick Douglass High School. TSHICC’s first partnership was Frederick Douglass High School. The school needed chairs for their multipurpose room which is where TSHICC worships every Sunday. As an in-kind donation, TSHICC donated $22,000 for new seating for the Frederick Douglass High School multipurpose room.
We wanted to be a blessing to the students and community at Frederick Douglass High School. It wasn’t good enough to use their facility. We wanted to make sure that this school understands how much we support the students and their families. So, we donated new chairs for each student to use in their current multipurpose room, says Pastor Kevin.
Frederick Douglass High School (FDHS) was the first high school for African-Americans in Prince George’s County. In 1922, Mr. Doswell E. Brooks, Supervisor of schools for African-American students, along with many community leaders, planned and raised money to build a high school. Mr. Sheldon Sasscer of Upper Marlboro offered the land for this structure. Frederick Douglass High School continues to strive to become a world class high school.
